Floating Village

The Village

6000 people live on this "lake." It smelled like a sewage treatment plant. We now understand why Cambodia is considered one of the poorest countries in the world

Village 2

The house boats do not have bathrooms so the lake becomes an outhouse and shower for the people who live and fish here

Boat People

Two small children living on one of the boats

Card Game

Village men play a game of cards on one of the boats

Home Sweet Home

This was one of the larger houses we found on the floating village

Washing Dishes

The houseboat people wash dishes each day in the dirty lake

Floating Shack

This is home for this small girl

Fisherman At Work

We worry about the effects the pollution has on the people who eat fish from this lake

Captain of the Boat

Many children are working on boats in Cambodia, including this one

Bottled Water

The floating village has no fresh water so the community brings in large bottles by boat

Village Road

The river and lake were at the lowest point when we visited and the smell was overwhelming

Wanted: 4WD

Stranded truck with no way out

Stuck In The Mud

This lady tried to accelerate through the river on her motorbike and found herself literally stuck in a pile of crap

River House

This river house would be considered a nice large house in Cambodia.
