Lucca-Pisa

Pisa was the consummate tourist trap.  The Leaning Tower of Pisa was an incredible site to see in person, however, the $15 ticket to climb to the top of the tower was a bit steep (pun intended!). Since the tourists were swarming like bees we found it difficult to spend much time exploring the area.

On the other hand, the town of Lucca with its great ramparts surrounding the city was a more interesting place to explore.  Lucca's tiny piazzas, narrow lanes and old world beauty was charming.  We loved Lucca and would highly recommend it.
