Pompeii

Pompeii is a fascinating close up look at how the ancient Romans lived and worked.  As you're standing among the vast area of ruins, it's quite overwhelming.  One can't believe how sophisticated the Roman's were at the time the city was buried by Vesuvius in 79 AD.  During our visit, we came across floor mosaics, colorful wall frescos and streets lined with shops that sold food at marble countertops.  We walked into one area that was called the Bakery section.  The design of the bakery ovens were astounding.  We only planned on a day trip to Pompeii, however, we wish we had three days to spend as there is so much to see.  Here are a few pictures of this lost city.
